WOODEND’S SUPER COOK CHALLENGE TAKES THE CAKE
Resident Linda Korte took the honours in GemLife Woodend’s inaugural Super Cook Challenge, impressing the judges with a superb, can-I-have-some-more-please black forest cake, the iconic and ever-popular German chocolate and cherry gateau.
About 50 residents joined in the fun, with nine keen cooks entering a dish of their choice into the challenge, submitting to judges Percy and Penny Punter’s (Sales Manager Alison Rice and Resort Manager Tony Liversidge) culinary blind taste-test.
The Super Cook Challenge will become a yearly event on Woodend’s social calendar which means residents will have an opportunity to challenge the champion in 2020 and take home the trophy.
Resort Manager Leanne Boxshall said the cooking contest was a big hit and everyone looked forward to next year’s challenge. “Linda’s black forest cake was divine! She’s German, so that no doubt helped,” said Leanne. “It was such a fun event. We all loved every minute of it.”
After the judging, residents shared food and took part in the sweeps ahead of the Melbourne Cup. Congratulations Linda on taking home the first GemLife Woodend Super Cook Challenge trophy!
